Bloomin' Feet: Confusion, choice and collaboration

Thank you all so much for the compliments on my Elfine's socks. I like them, too. In fact, I love them very much and that's why they are MINE ;-) I deserve them.
Not that my Bloomin' Feet pal does not deserve something so lovely, far from that! But the Elfine's are for me, me, me. For my Bloomin' Feet pal - I had and have other plans!

It is somehow not surprising how it came to the confusion that I would give away my Elfine's [gasp!]. In desperate need of STR for swatching I used the lemongrass yarn. As a matter of fact, it is still part of my project.

But now, I need your opinion.
I wanted something flowery for my Bloomin' Feet and especially after I decided for the Rose Quartz colourway. A rose pattern would obviously have been the perfect choice, but I couldn't find any. That's why I went for leaves instead.
I imagined the leaves somehow entwining around or along the foot and I wanted an organic look. I came up with a design where the leaf tendril sort of sprouts from the toe.

Please, do tell me how you like it. I am going to finish this sock for myself anyway (my pal has the same size, yeah for the match, Mr. Clothesknit!) and I quite like it. But since it is my baby I am not impartial.
The other sock (right side) is, you surely recognise it, Baudelaire by Cookie A from knitty.com. I came across this this pattern when looking for a toe-up heel flap for my Elfine's and I let me tell you: this is the best heel I have ever knit! What a stroke of genius! The fit is not only much, much better than that of any short-row heel I ever knit, it is also so much prettier. You have to try it!
However, after copying the heel and being so very pleased with it, I asked myself what are the chances, that the whole sock is very clever? My educated guess was very high. As a result, the Baudelaires will be my fallback solution aka Plan B socks. That is, until you tell me that they would be the better choice for my Bloomin' Feet pal. Go on, tell me. Please! And be honest, I can handle criticism.

while the baudelaires are on my list to knit i really do like what you're doing with the sock on the left!

I've had Baudelaire on my list for a while - I love yours!!!!

Sarah sagði...

I like the sock on the left too! (Baudelaire is sitting in the ever-growing "want to knit" pile.)

I'd go for the winding leaves ... it's "more unique." :-) And quite nice, by the way.

My only concern about the rose sock is that the vines down on the toe might be uncomfortable when you are wearing shoes. But if it isn't, I like it. Actually, I like both of them.

Mia and I had the same thought. If the toe is comfortable with shoes, I love the way the rest of it's knitting up. Absolutely gorgeous!

I have visited your blog now and again and I really love all your knitting. It makes me smile. I thought I would drop in and tell you I have some video footage on my blog of the Yarn Harlot that I thought you would like to see.

I forgot to tell you I love the viney leaves of the trellis, yours, the one on the left. Can't you incorporate the top of the sock to look like a bloomong rose from the trellis upward? I think you can....

Sigga Sif sagði...

I think you should go ahead with your design. It looks lovely, and I especially like the toe.

Rebecca sagði...

They are both lovely. but yours is VERY cool, I think you should stick with that.

You should absolutely stick with the one on the left. I love how it grows out of the toe (you should really share that pattern hint hint)!

Cheryl sagði...

I love your design, it's brilliant! I love that the vine is growing out of the toe like that!

Oh, oh, oh, please let them be mine! Please, please, please! I absolutely love what you are doing with your design. So unique! And in one of my favorite colors! The sock gods would surely smile down on me and say Carola is your BF sock pal and those lovely lovely socks are for you!

They are both beautiful and both on the "i've got to knit these someday" list :) I think your pal will be lucky to have either pair!

I don't usually comment on your blog, but I alway enjoy reading your entries and felt so sad about Willie. I even checked back a couple of days in a row hoping you had found him. Even though I live in California and don't have to worry about the weather much, I've lost two kitties. They just never came home. So, how happy for you to get Willie back even if he was stinky!

I just had to delurk to comment on the socks. The left one is AMAZING! I love it, I think you should use it (I second the praise heaped on Cookie's heels - the heel on her Monkey sock was the best fitting and looking I've ever knit!) and I think you should share the pattern when you're done, too! ;)

So glad to have you back - I've been catching up on your missed posts for a while now.
Love the water bottle cozy from a few posts ago. I hope it helps to give you some relief from your back pain.
